As an Entertainment Practitioner (individual or entity), in order to benefit from the Productive Inputs Relief (PIR) scheme, you must first register with the regulating Ministry, MCGES, for status as a bona fide ‘Practitioner/Producer’. Only a business that has been approved by MCGES (Under The National Registry of Entertainment and Creative Industries Practitioners (E-Registry)) , may benefit under the PIR scheme. Application Requirements

In order to ensure your application is processed expeditiously please verify that all the information is completed accurately, and the supporting documents/information are submitted along with your request.

A Fiscal Incentives Application Form must be completed.

Other Supporting Documentation to be submitted along with the Application Form are:

  • Company’s TCC and TRN assignment document from Tax Administration Jamaica
  • Company’s Registration Certificate
  • Company’s Business Plan
  • Company’s most recent financial statement

  • Image of TRN card (not required if GOJ issued ID is Driver’s license)

There is no fee associated with submitting your request to access “PIR Status”.

 

Processing Time:

Status Approval - Maximum of twenty (20) working days.

Submit your Application

You can choose your preferred submission method, either through the online portal or by presenting your filled form in one of MCGES offices.

Once your application form and any relevant supporting information/documents have been completed, signed, stamped and certified where required; submit your application using the portal (or visiting the MOAF offices), along with your relevant fee payment.

Additional steps required for approval...

Once your application is approved by the MT, an approval letter is sent to the Jamaica Customs Agency (JCA) and the Tax Administration of Jamaica (TAJ) for their records.

Review of application(s) by MCGES

carried out on the practitioner/producer’s request and any supporting documents.

Verification assessment by MCGES/JAMPRO

to ensure that it is a bona fide operation and that the practitioner/producer is involved in a prescribed entertainment activity.

Joint verification site visit conducted

appointment made with practitioner/producer to visit their facility/operations.

Formal report prepared/sent to regulating Ministry - MCGES

reviewed by Ministry for further processing.

Formal referral/recommendation

from Regulating Ministry - MCGES: is forwarded to the following agencies for their records and approval:

  • Incentives Unit of Jamaica Customs Agency (JCA)
  • Legal Support Division of Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ).
Practitioner/Producer is advised

MCGES will advise the practitioner of the final determination regarding their entertainment status.

Practitioner/Producer’s information processed on ASYCUDA

once the final determination is made, if approved JCA enters your information into the Automated System for Customs Data (ASYCUDA) platform.
