Farm License Description

Jamaica has a strong farming background that is supported by an enabling environment and an abundance of well trained personnel. The new millennium agricultural landscape for Jamaica is one of diversification, niche marketing and value added products. With roughly 516,000 acres of arable land in the country, there are tremendous opportunities for investors in Jamaica’s agriculture sector to serve domestic needs as well as export markets etc.
 

The Rural Agricultural Development Authority (RADA) is a statutory body under the Ministry of Agriculture, and Fisheries (MOAF). RADA was established under the Rural Agricultural Development Act, and it is Jamaica’s chief agricultural extension and rural development agency. It is committed to promoting the development of agriculture in Jamaica, with a mandate “To enhance the development of farming through an effective, efficient and sustainable Extension Service.

Farm Registration uniquely identifies farmers and provides basic information about their farms and farming practices. Registration targets all farmers (both individuals and companies), who are cultivating crops or rearing livestock with the intention to sell. Farmers are required to register their farms with RADA in order to access fiscal incentives and other benefits offered by the Government of Jamaica (GOJ). RADA only registers operational farms as the officers will need to see evidence of the produce/livestock as indicated on the registration form at the time of the site visit. Once your farm has been established and is operational, you may then proceed to register your farm using the – “How to Apply Process”
